Stay Awake by Megan Goldin
4.0

Liv wakes up in a cab, no memory of how she got there, and strange messages scrawled on her hands: "wake up," "stay awake," and "you forget when you sleep." All seems well enough when the cab deposits her at her apartment she shares with her best friend, Amy. Liv wants to get inside and sleep off this wretched night. She must have drank a LOT. But she doesn't have her phone, purse, or keys. She rings the bell like crazy, praying Amy is home. The door is answered by strangers. Liv insists she lives there, and as she looks around, she realizes this is not her apartment, at least nothing like she remembers it. What the fuck is going on?

This book sucked me in from the first page. You're absolutely scrambling along with Liv trying to figure out what is happening to her. Things just get more and more precarious for her as the story moves along. This book is riddled with nail-biting moments. I even liked the chapters that followed the two NYPD detectives investigating a murder that's possibly linked to Liv, and I'm always bored with police POVs.

I honestly did not see the ending coming. I think I was so caught up in Liv's world that I wasn't looking for the eventual twist/conclusion like the blood hound I usually am.😄

I love books with unique concepts like this that are actually fun to read. Exactly the thriller experience I'm always chasing. Definitely recommend this one!
