The Host
by Stephenie Meyer
19 October 2021: This marks the completion of at least my fifth re-read of the book. By far the most of any novel I have ever read. It has been at least four years since my last re-read, and yet every moment of this book has remained incredibly vivid in my memory (& that is really saying something as I am known for my awful memory).
Something about this book will forever have a grasp on my heart. It will forever make me sob & give me hope. I don’t think nostalgia is a sufficient explanation for my love of this book.
It is undeniably not without flaws, and I am sure many editors would cut this book in half. However, as someone that is in love with every page I am selfishly very glad that never happened.
I will likely continue to re-read this book throughout the rest of my life. I am already looking forward to it.
16 October 2022: This remains an all time favorite even after the millionth re-read.
4 February 2024: Is this my favorite book of all time?
