The Butcher and the Wren by Alaina Urquhart
3.0

the first twenty pages took me forever to read, but then it was interesting when i could follow the setting and events.

wren is the medicinal examiner investigating bodies left behind from jeremy, the butcher. each chapter switches off 3rd POV of wren or the butcher, this is where it gets a little confusing. readers figure out what jeremy did to his victims in snippets after wren and her team discover them. it’s a very intriguing read, but you really have to focus.

loves
-wren and the butcher know each other
-murderer in the house scene
-violence was in here, but not super gory on every page
-alaina’s voice really shines

less than loves
-vocabulary was intense, much like alaina on her pod
-a lot of different settings could be hard to navigate, especially the festival
-chapter POV is not chronological? or maybe i’m dumb and just didn’t understand?
