Wow! Fantastic second book in the series. Usually, second books are the weakest in a series, but even though I loved A Broken Blade, I actually loved this one even more. Blair expertly shows the damage of colonialism and racism through the halflings. Where the first book explores Keera's damaged soul, her guilt and shame, and her isolation in being torn away from everything she knows, this sequel has her working toward building a new family by repairing the damage she was forced to cause. I loved this book.
