Chilean Poet by Alejandro Zambra

I really, really enjoyed this book. The plot moves quite slowly (so don’t expect a fast-paced crazy ride) but the characters were so beautifully developed and felt so true to life that I had no complaints about the slow journey. I enjoyed the setting, I feel like it was well developed for an international reader and I got a sense of what it might feel like to live in Chile. I actually really enjoyed  Pru’s section, I feel like it gave the best insights into the setting and provided funny commentary into people and human nature. It was also a great narrative device because it actually physically split the time between Gonzolo and Vicente’s last meeting with their reunion so the reader felt time had truly passed since we last saw those characters together. The writing was beautiful, reflective, and quite humorous.
