This biography is absolutely beautiful. The story is so beautifully told with so much heart break with notes of inspiration. Childhood servitude, grooming, and assault should absolutely be stopped. Understanding cultural barriers and means of survival requires nuance. being able to understand how women survived during the depression and WWII is a necessary part of learning and unlearning. This book is also so well done that the movie truly honored what was written.
