I read this as part of a banned books challenge.
The newer prints of this book have changed the title from George to Melissa. The only version I could get from my library is an older copy with George as the title.
I thought this was a sweet book.
It just missed being a 4 star because I did find the writing a little bland and George/Melissa herself despite being the main character was also a bit bland. This may have been due to her best friend Kelly being such a vibrant and fun character often overshadowing George/Melissa.
The version I read also had an informative Q & A at the end with the author.
