Heart of the Matter
by Emily Giffin
I should have known how this book would end. I should have been able to tell, because Tessa’s sections are in third person and Valerie’s are in third. I don’t know why, but I was rooting for Valerie. I wanted love and peace for her. Tessa seemed to have everything, a perfect life, despite comparing herself and her marriage to her friends and her brother. Valerie has grown through pain and done so much by herself, and yet she still ends up alone. I’m not saying I think a man should cheat on his wife and leave her. I wish both women could have ended up in love and happy. And maybe they are happy. I don’t know. The book was good. I think I’ll find Emily Giffin’s others, (other than Something Borrowed and Something Blue) and read them, too.
