3.5 An overall enjoyable book of second chance.

After falling in love as teenagers, Lincoln leaves Jace for his dream of his band becoming successful. Realizing Jace would give up his dream of becoming a doctor to tour with him, Lincoln leaves him. Now 10 years later, the band is on a hiatus and Lincoln heads to his childhood cabin. Predictably, Jace, having been dumped by his fiancé heads to his parent’s cabin as well. Thus, the story begins.

Lincoln borders on severe depression, he self-harms, even almost committed suicide. This mental illness is treated well, as far as I’m concerned. His illness isn’t glossed over nor exploited. It’s explained from Lincoln’s POV throughout and I was happy with how things ended.

10 years was a bit long for these two to be apart. Just a little niggle.

Jace was devastated when Lincoln left. And now , despite hoping to just get closure so he can move on, his heart wants Lincoln back. And Lincoln believing in fate, realizes if he can just get Jace to accept his apology they can get their second chance.

I liked this, quite a lot. Sure it was predictable, that’s the point of romance, that get their happily. It’s just this was maybe too predictable. Even Lincoln’s diagnosis.
