The Rooster Bar
by John Grisham
You just can't go wrong with Grisham. Enjoyable story, interesting plot, well told, straight-forward, fast read. Not a lot of character development but it's Grisham so you don't expect it! Also--thank goodness--no "literature"-y ambiguity or weirdness, no fancy writing, no confusing flipping between time, locale or narrator.
It's a scam: Bad for-profit law schools, easy loan money, debt collection agencies -- all owned by the same super-rich guy. Oh and there are no jobs for graduates of bad law schools like this. Mark, Todd and Zola drop out with 1 semester to go, practice law without a license, scam a class-action lawsuit against a Wells Fargo-like bank, get caught, get rich, move to Africa with new identities. Grisham has a definite opinion about those for-profit law schools.
