When movies come out... and it looks like I want to see them, and they are based on a book, I try to read the book before I see the movie. I thought this book was okay. It was a quick read... but the story never caught me. It was too brief. The relationships and reflections in this book were so complex, and had the potential to be really complex, but it just seemed like the story was too superficial to me. Maybe that was the point, to illustrate the detachment of the main character after he was hurt emotionally. Either way, I thought it was just alright. I probably won't read it again, but I will go see the movie to see what they do with the story.
