i enjoyed the texas setting and lore’s pov! cassie sort of seemed like a nonessential character, and the framing as a true crime piece seemed contrived (the relationship with duke seemed incredibly unnecessary) rather than helpful … cutting cassie and adding more lore (and the family(ies)) would have been more compelling because the former was just a boring plot device
