'Salem's Lot by Stephen King

5.0

Book Rating: 10/10

I love this book. This is like my third reread of it. It's definitely, in my opinion, one of King’s best-published works to date. At its heart, it's a retelling of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. But to describe it as only that would be a disservice to the novel and to Stephen King. Who has crafted so many masterpieces over the years. Salem’s Lot is your average sleepy town. It could be your town. It could be my town. It actually reminds me of my town, minus the vampires, of course. And that's what's scary about it. It isn't some gothic village in Transylvania in the 19th Century; this is set (for its time of publishing) in modern America. I love every character in this book without exception. The town itself is its own character. I'm intentionally vague on the plot as I don't like them and try to avoid accidentally revealing any. But this book is most definitely a pickup and read.
