5,000 Words Per Hour: Write Faster, Write Smarter by Chris Fox

4.0

Given his aims, Chris Fox did a great job with this book. I read a lot of books of this type — whether I think I need them or not. I always learn something, or am reminded of something I’ve heard before. It’s always good to renew your commitment, try new strategies, and reinforce good habits. I immediately began incorporating timed writing sprints into my daily routine (okay, it’s only been a week so far, but still . . . it feels good!). I found that I could pound out a lot more words than I’d have expected if I set my mind to it and set a time limit. What I really liked about Fox’s book is that it’s pretty free of filler and fluff. Just the facts, ma’am, for the most part. A real help in refocusing and recommitting to whatever writing project you have going at the moment.

I became aware of Chris Fox and this book by way of Joanna Penn’s “The Creative Penn” podcast, which I recommend above all others for writers and creative entrepreneurs, especially if you might want to self-publish.
