The History of Mr. Polly by H.G. Wells
3.0

Surprisingly entertaining and witty whilst simultaneously being thoughtful and quite profound, I enjoyed this relatively simple narrative more than I expected. Wells proves to be a master in creating incredibly realistic characters through quirky, detailed descriptions and by capturing their speech using phonetic spelling. The book was also incredibly thought-provoking at times which I enjoyed, and the conclusions Wells comes to through Mr Polly are satisfying and intruiging.
