Hell Is Empty by Craig Johnson

1.0

What happened Craig Johnson?!?!? I have fallen in love with your series, starting the next in the series right after I finish one. (I listen to the audio version and have recommended highly to my friends. I even listened to your interview with the FANTASTIC audio reader George Guidall.

But I was very disappointed by this particular book.

What I love about the Walt Longmire series:
1) Intelligent witty dialogue
2) Brave smart Walt Longmire
3) Intense charming friendships between Walt and his friends
4) Fabulous women characters

So in this book, our beloved Sheriff Walt spends 95% of the time on a snowy mountain, mostly alone. No dialogue, no friends, no women. And worse, our hero seems to do one stupid thing after another.

And worse, the book includes ENDLESS magical mysticism. We've seen some of that before in prior books, but it's so unnecessary. And in this book the symbolism and musings seemed to go for days.

Mr. Johnson, please just bring back the best of this series - go back to Durant (no more trips to Philly or other out-of-context locales). Celebrate the charm of the small town and the incredible characters that you have developed.

Thank you in advance,
