The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr

2.0

It may be one of the best selling picture books of all time but, for me (and I’m hardly the target audience), it fell completely flat. The most amusing part for me was when the tiger drank “all Daddy’s beer” before moving on to “all the water in the tap.” Overall, it just wasn’t that amusing nor did it have a catchy rhyme or story. As Kirkus said in its 1968 review “The Tiger Who Came to Tea has no teeth.”

A side-note: Once again, I have no idea how this book crossed my radar. I really wish that Goodreads would add a private box, that pops-up when adding a book to the to-read shelf, titled “How I heard about this book.” I’ve tried to be better about emailing myself notes to add when I’m on the desktop version—but it is tedious and it would be better to have the box appear on the app. Yes, I know, I’m dreaming because this app will never improve. Ever.
