How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind: Dealing with Your House's Dirty Little Secrets by Dana K. White
4.0
My house is so much easier to keep tidy these days but I did not know exactly why. This book really helped explain it. I used to think there were two kinds of people in this world. "Do-it-now" people and "Do-it-later" people. I knew the Do-it-now people had much less stress and difficulty in their lives, but I just accepted I was unfortunate to be a Do-it-later sort. But, of course, that was fixed mindset thinking (see: Dweck, C). So I decided to test the hypothesis that if I put my mind to it I could be come MORE of a Do-it-now person. And over time, that is exactly what has happened. Anything you practice you get better at. Duh. But now, I get a little jolt of joy every time I look for something and it is there - because I put it back right away. This book also has many other gems for people like me - who don't notice clutter naturally until it is too late (or until I am used to clean so now I notice anything not in it's place). Of course, it also helps we have an amazing cleaning lady who comes often enough to further keep us on our toes. Life is better tidy!!
