I always hate trying to assign a star rating to a collection of short stories, because if I based my rating upon my favorite story in this book, Rattlesnakes, it would easily be five stars. If I based it on some of the others, it might be more like 2 or 3. Generally speaking, though, this is a solid collection of the dark, the macabre, and occasionally the just plain weird. I don't think it topped If It Bleeds as my favorite King anthology, but it was definitely worth taking the time to read the book cover to cover even when a few of the stories weren't quite as memorable as the others.
