3.8/5 stars. This most recent addition to the series was ok. Involving the Navy in the storyline was original, and I quite enjoyed it. What I didn’t like was the writing regarding the heroin storyline and the ending of the book. I prefer a show, don’t tell type of writing style, but I felt the writing about heroin was too heavy handed and preachy. It felt like Dugoni was given “talking points” he needed to include for a sponsor and was unsuccessfully in his efforts to make them flow organically in his book. I also though that Crosswhite getting pregnant at the end was a bit of an easy out. I think it would have felt more authentic and would have been more realistic than the miracle pregnancy we are given.
