most read this book pretty familiar with the plot due to it's beloved place in horror media and pop culture. i picked this book up assuming it would be better than the movie adaptations, and was so disappointed to be wrong. not only is it hardly similar but there is so much copious amounts of sexism, transphobia and rape culture baked into the writing that it was impossible to enjoy. it's clear from reading the attitudes in the books are not for plot or to make the characters flawed, it is reflective of the author's beliefs. still don't understand how this is a trilogy. author should be on a registry fr
