A Field Guide to Getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit
4.0
Hmm! This is the second Rebecca Solnit book I've read, and this one was so gorgeous and touched upon a lot of things that are very special and dear to me, so I can't bring myself to give it three stars, although that's what my impulse decision would be. Just like with Men Explain Things To Me, I find myself a little confused as to whether it's my fault that I don't get it, or whether Solnit's essay collections are just... not quite as smooth and cohesive as I'd prefer.
Somewhat irrelevant, perhaps, but her writing voice is SO GORGEOUS, and I'd love to read a novel by her. Rebecca Solnit Write Fiction Challenge!
My favorite section was "Two Arrowheads", not necessarily because of its message, but I found that one to read most like a (dreamy! beautiful!) narrative, and I didn't struggle so much to read it, which, I guess, explains my aforementioned point? This isn't a badly written book and Rebecca Solnit is not a bad writer I just want to understand! You know?
