This book was such a delightful surprise! I had it on my shelves for so long, and I’m sad I didn’t pick it up sooner! I loved everything about it, the magical and incredible writing style above all!
The atmosphere in this story was done so wonderfully, and I loved the mythology aspect of it! I also loved that this book immediately dived into the obvious; with our main character in the sea, and learning about her backstory as we go.
The characters genuinely own my heart, and I loved getting to know all of them, with their own depth, complexity, and personality! As mentioned before, the writing style, the prose was just stunning; it captured the elegant, dreamy, and fantastical side of Asian folklore so beautifully!
This story is one I can see myself gravitate back towards, to experience the magic all over again.
