Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling
Did not finish book.
I’ve read around 60% of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and decided to DNF this book—and the series as a whole.
The books were really good for the first three installments (with the second one being my favorite). However, book five continues the main issue I had with book four: a lack of focus on the main plot, instead spending too much time on the mundane, everyday life at Hogwarts.
Do we really need to spend so much time describing each and every lesson Harry has? There are so many chapters where it starts with Harry going to class X, then to class Y, and finally to class Z—where something relevant to the plot finally happens.
I understand this is probably what draws some readers in—the everyday life of a student at a school of magic—but for me, it was just too much.
