The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker

5.0

'Earthworms wiggled to the surface, some lighting out for better territory only to crisp on the cement of our driveway, baked by the sun, and then flattened by the tires of our cars.'
.
This quote is a huge metaphor for how the slowing of the earth just created problem after problem for the human race. At the heart of this story is a young girl called Julia, telling us the story of how the slowing of the earth effected her life.
.
This book absolutely broke my heart and head to pieces, I geniunely welled up after the final page and books rarely make me cry. Julia was such a wonderful character and I found myself truly lost in her story, I felt everything she felt. I think I have found one of my favourite writers in Karen Thompson Walker, her work is just a dream to read, I found myself so invested in this story and I can't wait to read absolutely everything she releases in the future.
