I found this book fairly predictable. I guessed both of the big "twists" fairly early on. I didn't see the romance coming. I was glad to see at least some LGBTQI+ rep in the book, which is rare in adult thrillers unless they are marketed as "queer". So that was nice.
Overall, the book was okay but also interesting, dark, and sad. But I just wish it hadn't been so predictable.
Narrator Rating: 4.5 stars
The narrator did an excellent job.
Graphic: Emotional abuse, Mental illness, Panic attacks/disorders, Violence, Grief, Death of parent, Gaslighting, Alcohol
Moderate: Ableism, Addiction, Alcoholism, Child abuse, Confinement, Cursing, Death, Drug abuse, Infidelity, Toxic relationship, Blood, Vomit, Car accident, Murder
Minor: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Bullying, Drug use, Gun violence, Self harm, Sexual content, Stalking, Pregnancy, Injury/Injury detail
The child abuse in this book is psychological, as well as one incident of drugging her to make her sleep. As well as incidents in the past of leaving a child alone for long periods/neglecting her.
