I believe I saw the movie when it came out on video, and the ending has stayed with me. First the book and the movie are the same genetic material but like twins are different individuals. I did gain more insight to the character of Tristan, but the endings are very different and will need to rewatch the movie.
What really came as a surprise was the fact there were two short stories before Legends of the Fall. One is called Revenge and the other The Man Who Gave up His Name. Both were quite enjoyable, but I had been expecting Legends of the Fall to be a full novela. I need to read more short stories again.
