This book is great for something that was written in 2017, and I guess I’m glad that it already feels dated.
Mathieu writes good and believable characters, the plot moves and there’s a great relatable humor throughout. Is it kind of a feminist 101 checklist obviously written by someone who isn’t a teenager? Sure, but that doesn’t mean it’s boring. Are some characters, including the love interest, just there to demonstrate how different angles of feminism work? Yes, but I’m mostly glad they’re there.
All in all, a great fast read that entertains and inspires, and I can totally understand why the rights were snapped right up to make into a movie.
