Pride and Premeditation
by Steffanie Holmes
As with the previous two books, the murder mysteries part continue to be the worst part of the series. The writing is as subtle as a brick to the head – I don’t understand why a series that self congratulates itself so much on the most basic of literary references still feels the need to point out when famous phrases from classic works are quoted – complete with glaringly obvious villains that go on long rants explaining each part of their plans once they are caught.
So, nothing new on that front. But holy crap, the narrator in this book had such a noticeable lisp it was distracting. I ultimately got used to it but the first couple of hours were rough.
