for starters, the stark contrast between the styles of the bronte sisters is striking--jane eyre is refreshing in a modern world, while wuthering heights felt drawn out and almost pretentious. jane eyre herself was a very dynamic protagonist, and the page-long monologues of internal thought flowed so nicely that they barely felt lengthy and instead felt immersive.
