Healing Shattered Hearts by Kerry Taylor
dark
emotional
hopeful
mysterious
reflective
tense
medium-paced
3.25
Representation: Hispanic Hero
I realized while reading Healing Shattered Hearts I need to be in the mood for this type of romantic suspense reverse harem romance. The Heroine was SO freaking weepy this whole book and obviously, given that it's been less than a year since she escaped captivity, she has every right to not have herself together. But, her characterization detracted from my enjoyment of the book. And, I was SO looking forward to this finale. I think if I had been in the same mood I was while reading the previous two books I would've enjoyed it more.
That being said, I liked how Healing Shattered Hearts wrapped up all the loose ends from the previous book while still developing the main characters. Taylor did a great job exploring the pasts of each of the guys and while I complained about the Heroine being weepy, I did appreciate that the Heroine's characterization reflected someone who has severe PTSD.
Safety Rating: Safe with Exceptions
• No cheating
• No OW/OM drama
• Does have one of the Heroes pushing the Heroine away
• No separation
Possible Triggers: Yes
• Severe PTSD, including descriptive nightmares of captivity
• Gun violence
• Discussion of parental abuse when the Hero was a child
• Blackmail
Ending:HEA
