I've spent a long time yearning for a book that takes a really tender look into sisterhood and the strained dynamics between them, only to find this book and be left.. underwhelmed. Characters where cartoonishly one-dimensional and any attempts to give them depth fell flat. (Middle sister is STRONG but with a tender heart <3...)
This book suffers from the same issues that other ~*hot girl*~ books do. It has very little plot (which as a lit fic lover, I don't mind) but ALSO has very little to go in the way of characterization. Hot girls... we don't have to settle for mediocre books just because the author's really good at marketing!!! We have a right to read good books!!!
This book looks like it's saying a lot about so many things, but doesn't actually say much at all. Despite this, I actually DID decently enjoy my time with this book, but that may have to do with the ease of consuming audiobooks... I perhaps would not have been as kind otherwise.
My review was originally a 4/5, but slowly dropped down as I really thought about it. Here's some more heinous things about this book:

My review was originally a 4/5, but slowly dropped down as I really thought about it. Here's some more heinous things about this book:
- Weird teacher/student relationship
- Man who has spent decades in America still somehow has broken English
- Family is allegedly lower middle class but owns not one, but TWO houses in NY
- Poor Lucky :( it must have been so hard to be so beautiful and thin and white and desired :/
- Hysterectomy is a cure for endometrioses??? Does Mellors not have access to google???
- WEIRD TEACHER/STUDENT RELATIONSHIP!!!!!!!!
- AVERY YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT YOUR SISTERS!!!!!!!!
- THIS MAN MET BONNIE WHEN SHE WAS A CHILD!!!!!!
- WHY ARE YOU SUPPORTING THIS!!!!!!!!!
- IS THIS NOT GROOMING????????
- Therapist marrying a client
- Lesbian character had sex with a man
- Why tf am I reading a baby's perspective?
- WEIRD TEACHER/STUDENT RELATIONSHIP
- South Asian character only exists to further a white woman's story and is hurt for the purpose of giving the white woman depth
- Primitive Eastern European man only exists to further a white woman's story, eat cheesecake (which does NOT exist in his country because Eastern Europe is SO poor and SO primitive), AND HAVE AN INAPPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIP WITH A WHITE WOMAN
