The End of Men by Christina Sweeney-Baird
DID NOT FINISH: 79%

This book screams "I was written by a privileged, white, straight, cis woman that thinks all women make men the centre of their world."

Rather than being an empowering book about women coming into their own after a lifetime of patriarchy, it was women missing the strong broad shoulders of their husbands and constantly wanting babies. Grieving is a lifelong process, but you don't need to make it the main content of your book.

Gender, race, and sexuality were dipped into like it was a tick box exercise and done appallingly. The final straw was a character returning to London and noting that before it was predominantly men in suits but now it was more "skirts and dresses". That's right, men wear suits and women wear dresses and never the twain shall meet.
