Fairy Tale by Stephen King
3.0
The first half of the book sucked me in. I cared about the characters and details seemed rich and meaningful. And RADAR! Oh my heart.
But after going down the staircase, my interest waned. Once Radar rode the sundial, I just didn't feel interested in the story. The characters in jail blended together. All the antagonists felt cartoonish, and I never felt any of them were seriously dangerous to Charlie's journey home.
I skimmed to the end to see if Charlie reunited with his Dad. I would have loved to hear more of Charlie's thoughts as he shared his "shameful secret." His catharsis didn't feel like the major shift I wanted it to be.
I'd reread the part of the book that takes place in our world though!
