I know I’m in the minority on this one, but I spent a significant amount of time being bored. Constant reiterations about food, alcohol and chapters of nothing.
There were aspects which were great and I wished the novel had centred around these more - instead of being led blindingly slow into them. I hated the musician story line - end of.
This was a hard slog to get through - however; there were some truly heartwarming scenes. The hairdresser, the new experiences etc. they were so sweet and lovely and there’s a lot of afterwards contemplation to be had.
