Doctor Strange, Vol. 2: The Last Days of Magic by Jason Aaron

3.0

I really loved the first volume of this so the fact that the second volume was only okay was a huge letdown. The set-up that most of the magic in the world was destroyed and Strange needed find the leftover scraps of it to fight a magic-hating super-scientist was a great one. But Strange's reason why he and the other magic-users shouldn't get help from their non-magical friends felt really weak. I know Tony Stark can't sense magic, Strange, but maybe he could come up with one or two ideas to fight another super-scientist. Maybe Wanda could call her brother Quicksilver and have him collect the magical artifacts one day before he goes to work. Maybe Magik's brother Colossus could beat the super-scientist to a pulp with his non-magical metal punching arms. I don't know. Use your resources, Strange. Then the villain was dispatched about halfway through and the rest of the volume was devoted to these little snapshots of some of Strange's magical compatriots, which was fine but not that compelling.
