City of Bones has an equal mix of interesting and not-so-interesting scenes. There are some scenes where I'm like "wow this is nerve-wracking, I want to know what happens next" and my eyes are skipping over the text and speed reading ahead. At others, I'm like "how on earth am I supposed to sustain enough interest to read through the whole series?"
I'm hoping that the story gets better as it goes along.
