A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair

4.0

"A Touch of Darkness" is a very fast-paced and decent erotica retelling of Hades & Persephone. The writing style is plainsong and sometimes the heroine's voice reminded me of a fairytale character. While it didn't really match this kind of adult writing, it definitely elevated the whole innocent tone on behalf of Persephone and of the classic Greek myth.
I'd love to read the second and third book in the series since it was a quite fun and relaxing read. The storyline was okay, not complicated, and not unpredictable but it was nice to read something that doesn't require that much of strenuous thought to read through like many of my fantasy reads this year.
The smut was also enjoyable even if one particular scene clearly tiptoed the line of stalking. Since the myth really rests on Hades' obsession over a young woman and her binding to him without her consent though, it also made sense that the author added such scenes.
I also liked the idea of Persephone's fault concerning her magic--this novel really digs a bit deeper than other smut stories and it's a great choice if you're into the genre!
