My Final Say: I loved this book!!! I am sooooooo glad that I read it/listened to it. It was refreshingly different, especially in terms of what I am used to in a bio-mem. It was not just a telling; it was an experience. Confessed peculiarities, in your face straight talk about the habits, excuses, and fallbacks that shaped her early life and on into adulthood and single parenthood, and wisdom lessons on facing challenges, moving past fears, and embracing new opportunities - it was all in there. I laughed and learned my way through this book.
Whether you are a fan of Rhimes or not and whether or not you are closed or open to the content in this book, I can wholeheartedly and unwaveringly say that everyone should be able to walk away with at least one nugget. What readers choose to do with that nugget is up to them.
Personally, I think everyone should give this book a chance. The audiobook gets top marks, so I definitely recommend that.
