I really wanted a quick nice book after finishing lucky by Alice Sebold (very different to this) so am happy this lightened my mind. The magic finger follows the story of a family of hunters (BOO!!) who get sparked by a girl with a magic finger - fitting title Dahl - after she sees them bringing a freshly killed young deer home. Later that day the father and two sons go out hunting again murdering 16 ducks, they then try to shoot at 4 more but fail so go home. The following day the whole family awake to being ducks themselves and I won’t say anymore, just read it. It’s a great tale about the brutality of hunting - I’m vegan and naturally hate hunting - and the evilness I guess. Not the best pick me up haha but it’s lighthearted and just a little tale.
