This is one of the books this year that I feel I could continually go back to and reread whether it’s 5 or 50 years from now. While the story’s foundation will remain the same new information may come to light in that time while I will be changed by how I interpret the definitions in this story. It follows a young girl into adulthood in early Victorian era that is home in the place where the Oxford English Dictionary took root. Her journey is a story I feel most women will know. How we see Esme’s journey will change in each new season of our lives. I will absolutely recommend this book to all my lovers of etymology and adventures.
Graphic: Sexism, War
Moderate: Cursing, Death, Death of parent
Minor: Suicidal thoughts, Pregnancy
