syngirl 's review for:
The Forest of Hands and Teeth
by Carrie Ryan
I honestly didn't care about the characters. I felt bad for them, and clutched my e-reader in suspense when bad things happened. I even had to turn it off a few times to breathe close to the end. But...the characters were flat, a lot of things weren't explained, and typically I can overlook a few plot holes. But these were gaping plot canyons!
I'll give the next book a chance, because as a dystopian zombie book it was great. I just don't like Mary, she reminds me of Lori on the walking dead. There is even a Carl in Jacob and Shane and Rick in Harry and Travis, only toned down for YA audiences.
I gave 5 stars because as a zombie horror novel it succeeds, but as a ya para romance it's a horrible failure.
