I would give this 3.5 stars. I'll admit I don't know much about the history of Berlin and the divide between East and West Germany. I was in grade school when the Berlin Wall came done. I had little to no knowledge of what that meant. This book explores that time period and what it meant to live in the GDR through a fictional story of a writer and his relationships with women who never seem to match up with the woman he met and loved in Berlin.
