The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet by Reif Larsen

*Another Nancy Pearl recommendation, in the map vein*

I love to read reviews on Goodreads, altho sometimes, in certain moods, they can sway me from a book before I even dip into it. This time it was going the same way as I read quite a few complaints about the writings in the margins, the footnotes as it were, getting tiresome and the book being too long. Well, I didn't have anything else to read and even tho I was suspicious I started it and was instantly hooked by the boy who was totally normal in so many ways and yet was also so extraordinary and saw the world in such wonderous and wonderful ways by mapping everything - truly everything, from shucking corn to loneliness.

It is allowing me to see the world in T.S.'s eyes, thinking about how me might map my life and the things I see, at least until I move on to the next book that gets lodged in my brain the same way. Very highly recommended.
