All Boys Aren't Blue
by George M. Johnson
Although this is a book that is geared towards young adults, this is a book that I think EVERYONE should read. It is a book that I wish was required for every kid to read in school. Throughout this book, George M. Johnson talks about his journey figuring out his own identity as a Black queer man. From a young age, he always knew he was different. He talks about many incidents that occured while growing up that have shaped him to be the person he is today. I listened to the audiobook and the author, George M. Johnson, narrates it. When listening to his voice, I could tell this was not an easy book for him to write. I am really proud of the fact he was able to open up about his experiences. I hope others who read this book gain insight to how difficult life can be for not only Black men, but for those struggling to figure out their sexual identity as well. (I also cried while listening to this so I hope that proves to you all how good this book was).
