Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

5.0

"I learned years ago that it's okay to do this. To seek out small spaces for myself, to stop and imagine myself alone. People are too much sometimes. Friends, acquaintances, enemies, strangers. It doesn't matter; they all crowd. Even if they're all the way across the room, they crowd. I take a moment of silence and think:
I am here. I am okay.

This book blew me away.

Eliza's story gripped me from page one. I felt her pain as if it were my own. I related to this story so much that it hurts. While I've never created something as epic as Monstrous Sea, and had to deal with being famous, her anxiety and depression is something I've been through. It's a daily struggle, and I truly admire Francesca's way of depicting these themes. I also just love the story itself, it has a deliciously sweet romance, lovable friends and family, and one of the coolest story within a story. I would be lying if I said I didn't want to read Monstrous Sea myself. I really loved this book, it has cemented a special place in my heart along with Fangirl (lol. what's with my love of geeky females, that write awesome stories I want irl, and who also have anxiety?), The Fault In Our Stars, and Vassalord.
