Lucky Leap Day
by Ann Marie Walker
‘Lucky Leap Day’ is a simple book filled it cheesy and clichè tropes. I think I should start with what I enjoyed about this book because, despite many eye rolls and annoyed sighs, I have to admit I did find it cute at times.
The main character, Cara, is a well-rounded character who is fleshed out and her hopes and wants are clear. The beginning of the book was cute and cheesy and actually enjoyable.
The faults of this book are much longer. ‘Lucky Leap Day’ is a boring and cringey story most of the time. The actual romance is bland and the character of Finn is just there to be Cara’s love interest and to be perfect. He has nothing else to offer and they fall in love quickly and too easily. The biggest fault, to me, though, is that there was no friction that I think is necessary for love stories.
‘Lucky Leap Day’ should have been a DNF. It was predictable and bland and filled with too many pop-culture references for me.
