there’s nothing i like more than reading books set in the place i’m visiting, so for my trip to verona i obviously had to pick a book set in that area and i loved recognising places and buildings that the characters talk about that i also saw
other than that, i really enjoyed this! exactly what i like in a historical fiction novel like this - a cool setting, a good description of the atmosphere, some plot and the characters don’t have to be crazy unique for me to enjoy the book
at first i was a bit annoyed with the dual perspective because of the length of the chapters, in the middle i liked it way more (because i started to get the connection) but the ending felt a bit flat because of those long chapters. when there’s so much happening in one setting, completely switching to a different setting kind of ruins the built up momentum. maybe that’s why the ending felt a bit rushed to me
