Oh Kawakami is such a good author. I can't wait to read her entire backlog of books. This was a sad little story about a woman who has spent her life making no choices for herself, she just shuffles in and out of each day. When Fuyuko makes a friend at her job, it begins to open her up just a teensy bit. This process is painful and frightening for the main character but you can't help but hope for the best for her. Beautifully written, this author writes books for the modern woman, and asks important questions about our lives.
