And They Were Roommates by Page Powars
3.0

“Love is never not scary. It’s a matter of whether you’re enjoying that fear.”

Charlie is finally where he wants to be. St. Valentine’s Academy for Boys. As a trans boy he needs a room of his own, but everythng falls apart when he has to room with Jasper Grimes. Aka. The boy who broke his heart before he transitioned.

Since I loved The Borrow A Boyfriend Club, And They Were Roommates was high on my TBR for July. It was a quick read with some really fun moments. However, a lot of the plot ended up being a bit repetitive (lots of studying, writing love letters, meeting in libraries).

The book had characters that I mostly enjoyed but who sadly didn’t feel as alive as they did in Powar’s previous book. Additionally, I felt like the chemistry between Charlie and Jasper was lacking. I definitely enjoyed some side characters and I liked how their friendships with Charlie evolved throughout the book.

Overall though, this was a book I mostly liked. I enjoy the author’s humour and I’m definitely picking up more books by Powars in the future.
